The Role of Innate knowledge in Second language Acquisition

Image
Abstract: This article will reflect upon the concept of second language acquisition, as to whether the knowledge of second language is innate or acquired overtime? This article will reflect on the answer to this question using the a cquisition-learning hypothesis proposed by Stephen Krashen in his book “ Stephen Krashen ’s   theory of second language acquisition ”. If the knowledge is innate, then how can one use this innate knowledge in the learning process of a second language? What factors contribute to a person having an innate knowledge of a second language? When a person eventually starts to learn a language other than his mother language, he for sure counters many adversities, but does having an innate knowledge deep down within ones soul contribute to him acquiring the second language knowledge faster? These are the major questions which shall be reflected upon in this research and produce a satisfactory conclusion which will serve the purpose of clearing all doubts regar...

Are new mid-range smartphones a better value than old flagships?

Image
What are old flagship and new mid-range smartphones? When a company like Samsung or Huawei present their smartphones to the world yearly they announce two categories of smartphones. High end AKA flagship and mid-range. Every year the technology gets better and phones come with better software and better hardware but phones like the Samsung galaxy S7 still have a much better chipset, display and camera than most of the latest mid range phones and have almost the same price but has a micro USB instead of the type C which is the industry standard now a days hence no fast charging and has older software. Then there are the mid range phones by flagship companies which contain mid range cameras, old chipsets, good screens but mostly of  lower refresh rate like 60Hz but have the latest software and most of the latest mid range phones even support fast charging. For example Samsung galaxy A50 or A51 or huawei P40 lite are some mid range phones by flagship companies. Bu...

Image
What is the place of Apple in the technological world of 2020? In terms of revenue and smartphone sales apple is without a doubt one of, if not THE leading name in the tech world of 2020 and was the first company in the world to reach a global net worth of one trillion dollars back in 2018. Are they? Is it really smart to spend 1100$ for an Iphone 11 pro or 6000$ for a mac pro in an age where smartphones can be bought as low as 200$ and gaming PCs can be customized at less than 2000$? Well let's look at some facts and find out Presentation: First of all let's have a look at the way apple presents its products externally. Right half of the ab...

The Fall from grace of HTC

Image
What was HTC? Anyone who grew up in the smartphone boom of the 2010s will definitely have knowledge about a smartphone company called HTC. It was 'the' smartphone that everyone had who was not holding an Iphone and was the first smartphone for 90% of the people who are currently using either a samsung phone or an Iphone. 'Chances are, if you owned a smartphone from 2009-2013 it was an HTC. Even the First ever android phone was launched by HTC in 2008 called the HTC dream and was immediately in direct competition with the original Iphone. Even though it wasn't as good as the original Iphone the 'dream' established HTC as a smartphone leading company in the android side of things. HTC was the cheaper and better Iphone that everyone either had or wanted to have. HTC understood design and the attention to detail that was severely lacking in other smartphone makers at the time. The HTC M1 shown below is still considered to be an all time classic smart...

Are Foldable Phones the Future?

Image
History of Foldable Phones: In 2007 when apple announced the original Iphone followed by the announcement of the HTC dream which was the first android phone smartphones manufacturers always seemed to innovate with their next project and Samsung was the front and center in this yearly innovation. In 2013 when it was basically a few year into the smartphone boom in the world Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy Round (shown below) which was basically their first of many attempts to make non flat displays. Although it performed poorly on the market and sold less than a 100,000 units world wide, it opened the gate for Samsung and other companies to keep innovating until they get a perfect result. After this experiment Samsung again experimented with the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge which had a display with a curved edge and this got them comparatively good reviews compared to the galaxy round and it was a step in the right direction for Samsung. After this Samsung began ...

Image
Beginning of the mid range era In the beginning of the smartphone boom at the start of 2010s there were only two to three major companies releasing smartphones every year that every user had to buy as they had no other choice and these smartphones cost the users fortunes. On the IOS side of things Apple was the only company (Still is today) and on the android side of things Samsung and HTC were the two of the biggest companies and users had only these three companies to choose from. Moreover, unlike these companies would only release one smartphone a year and that was their flagship smartphone and they cost no less than 500$. Samsung and Apple though improved their smartphones yearly, they increased the prices of the phones considerably every year but people still bought them as there was not a lot of choice in the market for users Then in 2016 when apple released the Iphone 7 and Samsung released the Galaxy S7 at fairly high prices of 700-800 dollars, another compa...
