Everything PS5

Hardware Design:

Console Design:

Every couple of years Sony release a new console around the same time as Microsoft release their Xbox and both companies try their best to one up each other every time and the Aesthestics play a major role in this competition of sales. The look and the design of a product and especially a gaming console is always one of the biggest selling point of said product and the PS5 design released in the online event this week looks to be a very promising one.

This year, in my opinion Sony has taken the cake in terms of design and aesthetics as the PS5 black and white combination is one of the better console designs that we've seen, and compared with the matte black box design of the Xbox series X and its safe to say that the PS5 will be a much better looking device in living room.

Dual Sense controller:

Where Xbox has made almost zero to none change in its controller this year, Sony has totally changes its controller in both design and features. Till the release of PS4 Sony used the dual shock 4 which were completely matte black. This year however prior to the release of the console itself, Sony released the design of their new console controller and everyone was shocked to see how much of a change Sony had made to the new controller.

The new black and white design had almost everyone by surprise and IMO this looks very cool as compared to the traditional matte black dual shock controllers. Moreover they renamed the new controller as the Dual Sense Controller and it now had more features like a first time ever for a controller micophone for players to communicate without a headset in multiplayer games and a much more haptic feedback to give players a more realistic experience while gaming, like firing a gun, firing an arrow and explosions can now be felt by the players due to the bigger vibrator motor in these controllers. So all and all, I think this is a big improvement from sony and it will surely  translate to consoles as well.

Console Specs:

This year Sony has also improved a lot in the specs department. Before released everyone knew that the new gen consoles of both Sony and Xbox would for the first ever use an SSD which will considerably reduce the booting and loading time for the games but after some analysis by tech experts, it was stated that the SSD on PS5 would provide a much faster experience compared to the Xbox even though the SSD on the Xbox has much more storage capacity. Moreover, it was well known that for the first time ever these consoles would proved a 4k 60fps quality for games and this was a big step up from the 30fps that consoles are known for.

The complete PS5 Spec sheet:

CPU: 8x Zen 2 Cores at 3.5GHz with SMT (variable frequency)

GPU: 10.28 teraflops with 36 compute units at 2.23GHz (variable frequency)

RAM: 16GB GDDR6/256-bit

Internal Storage: Custom 825GB SSD

Expandable Storage: NVMe SSD Slot.

Optical Drive: 4K UHD Blu-ray Drive.

Exclusive and Third Party Games:

Games like The last of us, god of war, uncharted and Marvel Spide-rman have been some of the most famous and exclusive games for playstation and one of the main reason that people buy the playstation is because of these exclusive games which they cannot play on PC or an Xbox. This years Some exclusive games that Sony has revealed in its event are:

▶  Astro’s Playroom

Demon’s Souls

Destruction AllStars

Gran Turismo 7

Horizon Forbidden West

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart

Returnal

Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Although games like God of war and Last of us have not yet received a sequel gamers can play these games on the PS5 as it is also backwards compatible with the PS4 and can run all of its games. Moreover many 3rd party developers are also releasing games on the PS5 and most of the games which we play on PC like GTA 5, Red dead redemption 2, Dirt 5, Scarlet Nexus, Cyberpunk 2077, Assassins Creed Valhalla and many more will now be available to play on this new gen console.

Can it Replace your PC?

Now the question arises, Can this new PS5 replace our expensive gaming PCs?

Well the answer to this question is. Depends on ones use.

At less than 500$ this console can run the latest games and is significantly cheaper than even a single graphics card required to run these kind of games. Whereas a PC that has an SSD, A 2080 ti and 32 Gigs of DDR5 RAM can cost more than 2000$, the 500$ price of the PS5 is a very good price range for gamers to play the latest titles.

But, when a person replaces his PC with a Playstation the only thing that he can now do is play games. Productivity stuff like using the internet, content creation and just overall work that a person can do on a PC is all now taken away and now all he can do is play games. If someone wants a product solely for gaming than PS5 is the perfect product for that guy but if a person  also requires productivity along with gaming, then he should probably stick to his PC.

Conclusion:

Now, by looking and the specs and hardware of the PS5, it is safe to say that it is leaps and bounds better than the PS4 and some gaming experts are even considering it a better alternative to the Xbox series X. It has a new and better controller and for the first time using an SSD and giving gaming quality of 4k at 60fps which is never before seen in a console.

With the new exclusives that PS5 brought with itself, its same to say that this console has a lot going its way and the next few months when Sony releases the PS5 and Microsoft releases the Xbox series X are going to be some amazing months for console gamers and the PS5 is looking to be at the forefront of this next gen console war.
